A EMAIL I RECEIVED. 😲😲😲😲 For anyone who gets notifications from the FWC, I am sure by now we have all seen that they are trying to change rules on Spotted Seatrout. What they are doing here should be criminal. First I want to remind everyone, that the FWC did a survey last year, and after a bit of study, put out a presentation stating that the Trout Fishery in Florida is doing just FINE! Trout are NOT over fished. Trout are NOT going to go extinct. In fact, the fishery is doing VERY WELL. It's abundant and increasing. Basically what they want to do is. Decrease Bag Limits across the state. Change the Keeper size from 15" to 20" with 1 over 20" to 15 to19 with NO over size EVER. Lower size limits for commercial anglers. Folks, we can NOT let this happen. This change is being brought about by a few individuals from a few known groups who just want to complain about fishing. The sky is falling and they are taking too many fish and killing them off crowd. Their assumptions are NOT based on science, they are based on fallacy and emotionally driven. Whenever we let the pass laws based on someone's emotions BAD THINGS happen. Look how they destroyed the Red Snapper Fishery. Look how they destroyed the Black Seabass Fishery. Now they are after the Spotted Seatrout. Look, I get it, if a species is in trouble we need to work towards fixing that. We have done that many times in the past, look at the huge success story we have with Red Drum. When we took that hard freeze which knocked out the Snook, they did rule changes to protect them, We Get That! and understand that!! But what they want to do with Trout here, is NOT based on any science that the fish are in trouble, or going to be in trouble, it is being done all because a few people complained without using the facts. They (FWC) have even mentioned this in this latest presentation by saying, "A Few People have Voiced Concern over bla bla bla", so therefore we want to do this (to appease them). Folks, PLEASE, we can NOT let them get away with this AGAIN. Even if you only fish once or twice a year, please join us in letting FWC know that we will NOT let them make rules on feelings, that laws MUST be based on fact and Science! If we keep letting them do this, they will slowly take all our fishing rights away. FWC is soliciting comments before they make final judgement on this measure. I urge everyone PLEASE, PLEASE!! do your civic duty and goto the FWC website and voice your concerns over this. I urge everyone to PLEASE write in there letting the FWC know that this is such a bad idea, and to please do NOT do this. The Trout Fishery is fine and does not need adjusting. You can update your Facebook status 20 times a day, you can spend 2 hours on twitter and the rest of the morning texting your BFF. Can you find 5 minutes to take care of this too? Those who do not like fishing / hunting, etc always make sure their voices are heard. That is why we are here right now at this spot. Last year you did a presentation stating that the Spotted SeaTrout fishery was doing very well, and thriving. There is NO scientific reason to decrease bag limits. Laws should be created based on science and facts, NOT emotions or because someone thinks something might be true. Please use Science and Facts to make decisions that would reduce or possibly even eliminate our fishing experience with Trout. Threatening to reduce a fishery just to make someone feel good is a terrible idea. Remember, fishing is also a livelihood for many individuals too. Taking food out of someone's mouth when there is no reason to is NOT something an honorable Floridian would do! Please do not ruin our Trout Fishing. Thank you for your consideration.

THERE'S NOT MANY WHO CAN, CONSISTENTLY CATCH A OVER 20 INCH TROUT. SPORT FISHING CAPITAL?? I'VE BEEN IN THE CHARTER BUSINESS FOR 23 YEARS FULL-TIME. REGULATING FISHERMEN.
