WEDNESDAY
North northeast winds 25 to 30 knots with gusts to
around 40 knots. Seas 9 to 12 feet with occasional seas up to
15 feet. Dominant period 7 seconds. Inland waters rough. Showers and a
slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. A chance of

IT GOT VERY BREEZY AS WE FISHED, THE ABSOLUTE LAST MINUTES OF THE FALLING TIDE, FLOAT-RIG FISHING FOR TROUT AND HAD SEVERAL ''SHORTS', AND ONE KEEPER, AND THE SCOURGE OF SPRING TIME....''the bluefish attacks''.
OH YES. SPRING HAS SPRUNG. BUT NOT REALLY. WHEN THE SPANISH MACKEREL SHOW AT THE INLET. THAT'S TRUE SPRING FOR ME!
WE, HAD ZERO CURRENT PRETTY QUICK WITH A LOW AT 7:30am. SO WE MADE A MOVE OR TWO.
NEXT SPOT A FEW SHORTS, AND A COMPLETE ''AZZ-HANDER'' BIG REDFISH, TOOK ME...''YES, ME'' CAN YA BELIEVE THAT? AROUND A PILING. I HANDED THE ROD TO ROB, AND HE HAD IT ON FOR A MINUTE, THEN HE HANDED IT BACK TO ME AND THE FISH WAS STILL THERE.
JAMMED THE FLOAT-RIG SINKER INTO THE PILING. AND THE FISH WAS STILL FREAKING OUT.
THEN, IT SNAPPED THE 20# LEADER.
A FEW MORE ''SHORT TROUT'', AND THEN A DECENT KEEPER. BEFORE WE LEFT OUT FOR THE DOCK AS THE WIND STATED TO BLOW AT 1:00pm

HAD A MESSED UP COON AT THE BOAT RAMP THIS MORNING. IT JUST WALKED SLOWLY AROUND ACTING LOST AND BLINDED, KINDA.
COONS AT THE RAMP ARE NOT A USUAL SIGHTING.

the Ali brothers fished aboard the JETTYWOLF, and supplied me with some video footage. one part of the footage I could use...but not the ''EVENTFUL'' missing is the tangled lines and a literal hand-lining by Seff, the angler of a 33 inch Redfish into the net! The action on this spot was good, 4 Redfish total, 2 - 33 incher types and 2- ''pups'' that were small and a Speckled Trout.
The full moon tides (super flooding) was kicking my butt all week! I ''VERY MUCH DISLIKE'' FISHING THOSE RISING FULL MOON OR NEW MOON STRONG TIDES!
We stayed away from the parking lot at the inlet intentionally to fish away from crowds. These fish were taken on 1/4 jigheads with a live shrimp in 4 feet of water along structure.
ALL UGLY STIK STRIPER RODS, EITHER A DAIWA RYOGA OR FIN-NOR LETHAL-40 SPINNING REEL. 1/4 OZ. GOLD HOOK LEAD HEAD JIG, WITH LIVE SHRIMP.

The Junior Angler Division features over 150 kids participating. The appeal of a fun, family friendly, low cost tournament has created a huge following of participants and supporters.
The El Cheapo is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Jacksonville Offshore Sport Fishing Club, (JOSFC). The money raised from the event will be used for various activities throughout the year that our club facilitates, including artificial reef management, educational, boating, and safety seminars.
The JOSFC is a 501(c)(7) non-profit organization. Portions of the proceeds of this year’s event will be donated to Safe Harbor Boys Home, Mayport Magnet Coastal Sciences Middle School, T.I.S.I.R.I. Reef Building Project and the Hook the Future Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help kids through fishing.

Through the tremendous support of our anglers and sponsors, the El Cheapo has become the “Largest Sheepshead Tournament in the World” and one of the largest fishing tournaments in the United States!
