12/16 - great day....till the RAIN! (with video & history update)
It LOOKED LIKE THIS ALL DAY LONG, TODAY...
WE WENT IN THE RIVER, PITCHED MY ''KNOCKER-RIGS'' WITH LIVE SHRIMP AND WACKED THE SPECKLED TROUT AND YELLOWMOUTH TROUT PRETTY DAMN GOOD. ABOUT 10 EACH, WITH ONLY 1 THROWBACK SPECKLED TROUT.
THEN, WE BOTTOM FISHED FOR BLACK DRUM, AND I CAUGHT A SHORT ONE, JUST A ''BABY'', WE ALSO HAD SOME CROAKERS, AND
MORE YELLOWMOUTH TROUT aka: Weakfish.
THEN, CAME THE COLD BUCKETSOF RAIN, ALL THE WAY BACK, THEN THRU CLEANING FISH AND EVEN HARDER AS I WENT HOME. A FREE COLD BOAT WASH. EVERYTHING GOT DRENCHED.
I TOOK THE FLOAT-RIG RODS, BUT WE NEVER FISHED THEM. HAVE I LOST MY PASSION FOR FLOAT-RIG FISHING? I ALMOST FEEL LIKE I HAVE.
THE DAMN BAIT STEALERS, REALLY KEEP ME FROM DOING IT.
VIDEO FORTH COMING, SOME FROM TODAY, AND MY NEWEST FISH BAG WILL BE HERE TOMORROW. EXPLAINED IN THIS VIDEO, BELOW.
HAVE TWO MORE GUYS I'D LIKE TO GET OUT THIS WEEK. MAYBE FRIDAY.
BACK IN THE DAY, THIS WAS ''COMMON PLACE'' IN THE WINTER, WHEN IT CAME TO WEAKFISH, aka: yellowmouth trout.
(customer with a 5 pound Jetty Weakfish)
**my largest ever was 7.5#'s on a 52mr MirrOlure at the jetties, in late March.
Common enough, I don't even have any photos of it. I was solo fishing. Doing some LURE R&D. Thought it was a big Redfish it pulled so hard.
Back in those days, you could only keep 4 Weakfish per person over 14''....now they are 100 pounds!!! per person, no size limit. In Duval County.
